Design a solar photovoltaic power plant for USM Schools Of Electric and Electronic / Sufira Jali
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The electrical and electronics (E&E) industry in Malaysia is mainly focused on solar, semiconductors and light-emitting diode (LED) technologies. In year 2013, the solar industry labeled as the largest sub-sector in Malaysia’s E&E industry. The growing awareness in sustainability and green technology has contributed in the introduction of solar guideline by the Malaysia government. In the market nowadays, the commercialization demand of a solar PV system is mostly depends on the reliability, efficiency and the performances of the entire system. This research is an attempt to design a solar photovoltaic (PV) system in supporting 30% of the total load demand in Universiti Sains Malaysia, USM Schools of Electric and Electronic (SEE). The 30% load supported is approximately 1,456.03 kWh with 60,669 W energy used daily. The solar irradiance measured at the site location is 26.32 W/m2 and average of 236.89Wh/m2 solar insolation for 24 hour. A software-calculating tool by using Matlab Graphical User Interface (GUI) is presented for load varying purpose.
