Design a solar photovoltaic power plant for USM Schools Of Electric and Electronic Engineering / Putera Ish Ahmad Radzi
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Malaysia is situated at the equatorial region that receives an abundant sunshine throughout the day that has a promising a potential to establish a large scale solar power installations. Photovoltaic systems known as an environmentally friendly, clean and secure energy sources of the renewable energy. The Malaysian government has started to realize the importance to adopt renewable energy in the energy mix and the government is keen to produce solar energy as one of the important sources of energy in the country. Therefore, this fact makes the solar energy resources attractive for many applications, especially for the rural and remote areas of most of the developing location. This project is mainly to reduce the electricity bill and the PV system is designed to support 40% of the total load demand in Universiti Sains Malaysia, USM Schools of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (SEE). The 40% load supported by the system is approximately 1, 847.816 kWh/day with 76, 922.33 W energy consumption daily. The solar irradiance measured from the site location is 26.32 W/ and with the average of 236.89 Wh/ energy used daily. The design also involve of the calculation of the capacity of the PV module, solar inverter, battery bank, and the charge controller. The selection of the type of the component is based on the calculation of the design system.
