Pada masa kini, kemalangan jalan raya merupakan salah satu pembunuh terbesar negara. Antara punca-punca kematian dan kecederaan di jalan raya, keletihan pamandu adalah salah satu daripada tiga pembunuh terbesar, selain daripada kelajuan dan pengunaan alkohol. Langkah-langkah semasa yang diambil untuk mengurangkan kemalangan jalan raya seperti penguatkuasaan undang-undang dan kempen keselamatan jalan raya, terbukti berkesan. Walau bagaimanapun, pendekatan tersebut tidak dapat menangani keletihan pemandu, dan sehingga kini, tidak ada sistem pengesanan/amaran yang dilengkapi di dalam kereta untuk memberi isyarat amaran apabila pemandu mengalami keadaan keletihan. Projek ini mencadangkan pembinaan sistem pemantauan keletihan yang mampu memantau dan mengesan keadaan keletihan berdasarkan kadar denyutan jantung. Projek ini dijalankan dalam empat peringkat, iaitu pemerolehan sampel kadar denyutan jantung semasa subjek yang diuji berada dalam keadaan normal dan keletihan, menjalankan analisis statistik terhadap sampel kadar denyutan jantung, pembangunan rangkaian neural tiruan (ANN) untuk mengklasifikasi keletihan dan akhirnya pelaksanaan dalam perkakasan. Latihan ANN dalam MATLAB mengunakan log sigmoid sebagai fungsi pengaktifan dan mencapai ketepatan latihan sebanyak 90.9%. Sistem pemantauan tersebut menggunakan papan mikropengawal Arduino UNO, sensor denyutan nadi, modul GPS dan modul GSM. Sistem ini berfungsi seperti berikut: (1) memperoleh kadar denyutan jantung rujukan daripada pengguna; (2) memantau kadar denyutan jantung semasa dan melaksanakan klasifikasi; (3) menghantar SMS amaran dengan lokasi GPS apabila keletihan dikesan. Ketepatan klasifikasi yang dicapai untuk reka bentuk akhir adalah 94%. Kesimpulannya, sistem ini dapat mengesan keletihan berdasarkan kadar denyutan jantung dengan mengunakan papan mikropengawal Arduino UNO, sensor denyutan nadi, modul GSM dan modul GPS untuk membolehkan penghantaran SMS apabila keletihan dikesan. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Nowadays, road traffic injury is one of the nation’s biggest killers. Among the causes of death and injury on the roads, driver fatigue is one of the big three killers, besides of speed and alcohol use. Current measures taken to reduce the traffic death, such as law enforcement and road safety campaign, are proven useful. However, these approaches are unable to tackle driver fatigue, and currently there is no detection/warning system equipped in a car to give alert when driver fall into fatigue condition. This project proposes the development of embedded fatigue monitoring system that capable of monitoring and detecting fatigue condition based on heart rate. This project is progressed in four stages, which are acquisition of the sample heart rate when the tested subject are in normal and fatigue condition, performing statistical analysis of the sample heart rate, development of artificial neural network (ANN) fatigue classifier, and finally hardware implementation. The training of ANN in MATLAB is using log sigmoid as the activation function and achieved a training accuracy of 90.9%. The embedded monitoring system utilizes the Arduino UNO microcontroller board, a pulse sensor, a GPS module and a GSM module. The system works in the following ways: (1) acquire reference heart rate from user; (2) monitor the current heart rate and perform classification; (3) send warning SMS with GPS location when fatigue is detected. The fatigue classification accuracy achieved for the final design is 94%. As a conclusion, the system is able to detect the fatigue based on heart rate by using Arduino UNO microcontroller, pulse sensor, GSM module and GPS module to enable the sending of SMS when fatigue is detected.
