Kajian ini memberi tumpuan kepada bahan-bahan bio kejuruteraan yang digunakan untuk melindungi saluran daripada hakisan. Ciri-ciri hidraulik aliran bahan-bahan ini ditentukan dari segi halaju aliran dan tegasan ricih. Walau bagaimanapun dalam menentukan halaju air memerlukan penggunaan persamaan Manning dan pekali kekasaran Manning. Oleh itu untuk menentukan nilai 'n' untuk bahan-bahan bio kejuruteraan dan penggunaan mereka dalam persamaan Manning satu ujikaji dijalankan dengan menggunakan pebagai jenis bahan- bahan biokejuruteraan yang terdiri daripadaTurf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) dan Erosion Control Blanket (ECB). Hasil daripada analisis nilai-nilai 'n' bahan biokejuruteraan mendapati TRM menunjukan prestasi yang baik kerana mempunyai rintangan yang lebih tinggi ke arah aliran air yang bermakna ia boleh membantu untuk mengawal hakisan saluran. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This study focuses on the bio-engineering materials that were used to protect the channel from erosion. Hydraulic characteristics of flow through these materials were determined in term of flow velocities and shear stresses. However determining velocity of the water requires the use of Manning‟s equation and Manning‟s coefficient of roughness. Therefore in order to produce „n‟ values for bio-engineering materials and their use in Manning‟s equation there was experiment conducting on different type of bio-engineering material that includes Turf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) and Erosion Control Blanket (ECB). The result of „n‟ values of bio-engineering material were analyzed and from the result the TRM performed the best for having the higher resistance towards the flow of water which means it can help to control the erosion of the channel.
