Low cost lc tank differential cross-coupled voltage controlled oscillator (vco) for pll-fm receiver_Chang Ching Chung_E3_2007_NI
Semua kerja membina pengayun terkawal voltan dijalankan atas alat rekacipta Cadence. Peraturan rekacipta ditentukan oleh Silterra bagi Layout. _________________________________________________________________________________________ A 118.7 MHz LC voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) has been implemented on 0.18 μm CMOS process. The VCO has intended usage in FM receiver. It plays an important role in frequency down-conversion. The LC frequency determining technique is chosen to achieve low phase noise performance, high Q-factor and easy implementation. This VCO adapts differential architecture for bigger output swing and better common-mode rejection ratio. Single and Dual LC tank differential cross-coupled oscillator are given attention in this project and examined in detail. Optimization is made on device size, power consumption, phase noise performance and Q-factor based on understanding of the VCO and simulation result. The VCO uses off-chip varactor diode and inductor because they provide high Q-factor compare to on-chip component. In this project, phase noise performance is more emphasized. NMOS varactor is used to characterize the VCO design. All the VCO design is done on Cadence design tool. For Layout design rule is set by Silterra for 0.18 um technology.
