Kajian ini terdiri daripada ciri-ciri dinamik tanah di Asia. Seperti yang kita tahu, gempa bumi, gegaran bumi, perambatan gelombang melalui tanah, tekanan dinamik, ubah bentuk, kestabilan asas setelah dikenakan beban di bawah gempa bumi adalah masalah yang berkaitan dengan pembebanan dinamik yang dikenakan ke atas tanah dan struktur bumi yang harus dihadapi oleh jurutera geoteknik. Dalam usaha untuk mengatasi kesan daripada gegaran ini beberapa analisis dan prosedur reka bentuk perlu dilakukan. Setiap jurutera haruslah mempunyai kefahaman tentang konsep dan kelakuan tanah di bawah beban dinamik Beban jangka biasanya berkaitan dengan beban kedua-dua statik dan dinamik. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana ujian yang dilakukan untuk menganalisis beban dinamik yang berlaku pada tanah yang telah digunakan oleh beberapa negara Asia. Beban dinamik dikenakan ke atas tanah oleh beberapa sumber, seperti gempa bumi, letupan bom, operasi jentera, trafik perlombongan, angin dan tindakan ombak. Selain itu, kajian dilakukan bagi mengeluarkan satu pangkalan data bagi tujuan rujukan bagi masa hadapan. Hasil dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa, parameter yang terlibat dalam dinamik tanah adalah modulus ricih dan nisbah redaman. Berdasarkan sifat tanah, hasil menunjukkan bahawa pasir berjaya mengekalkan hubungan dan geseran tanah ini disebabkan oleh sifat pasir yang tidak terikat. Keputusan ujian pada pasir menunjukkan bahawa pasir mempunyai sifat ,ketidaklelurusan lebih daripada tanah liat. Tekanan yang lebih tinggi menghasilkan banyak persimpangan antara butiran dan mengurangkan ketaklelurusan. Oleh yang demikian, pasir di bawah tekanan efektif yang lebih rendah menunjukkan lebih ketaklelurusan. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This thesis consists of the study of dynamic characteristic of soil in Asia. Earthquake, ground vibration, wave propagation through soil, dynamic stress, deformation, stability of embankment under earthquake loading are problems related to the dynamic loading of soils and earth structures that geotechnical engineer need to face. In order to determine the potential benefit of it, one must have an insight into the concepts and behaviour of the soil under dynamic load. The purposes of this research are to find out the common practice of dynamics analyses that particularly been used in some of the Asian countries. Dynamics loads are imposed on soils by several sources, such as earthquakes, blasts, operation of machinery, mining traffic, wind and wave action. These types of dynamics loading are classified based on the nature of the sources producing it. Next, is to produce a set of database on the dynamic loading of soils for Asian countries and identify the common dynamics shear modulus and damping ratio of soils in Asian. As Malaysia just receiving some impact from the earthquake that happen in the nearby countries, the research may give some information that related for the geotechnical engineering during design process. The conclusion for this research show that, commonly parameter that involving dynamics soil is the shear modulus and damping ratio. It also can be stated that variety of procedure can be used to obtain the shear moduli and damping ratio. As soil properties, the result show that sand managed to maintain contact and friction as the soil is particularly not bonded. Test result on sand, exhibit more significant nonlinearity than clay. Higher stress generates more intersection among grains and it reduce the nonlinearity. Consequently, sand under lower effective stress exhibit more nonlinearity.
