Plaza tol memainkan peranan penting dalam menjana pendapatan untuk tujuan smenyelaras dan membaiki lebuhraya. Terdapat tiga jenis pondok tol pada plaza tol Malaysia iaitu pondok tol bayaran cash, pondok tol Touch ‘n Go dan pondok tol Smart Tag. Pengguna lebuhraya mesti melalui plaza tol sebelum mengakses di lebuhraya. Namun, plaza tol telah mengakibatkan pemanjangan masa keseluruhan perjalanan pengguna lebuhraya. Terutamanya pada waktu puncak hari kerja biasa, barisan kenderaan boleh didapati pada arah masuk dan keluar di plaza tol. Apabila amaun trafik memerangi kapasiti plaza tol, barisan kenderaan akan mula memanjang sehingga lebuhraya. Keadaan ini telah menggangu aliran trafik pada lebuhraya. Oleh itu, kajian telah dijalankan di plaza tol untuk mendapat purata masa tunda sesebuah kenderaan di plaza tol. Kajian ini dilaksana dengan menempatkan sebuah video kamera di luar kawasan plaza tol untuk menangkap masa beratur and masa proses kenderaan. Masa tunda pula didapat dengan jumlah antara masa beratur and masa proses sesebuah kenderaan. Secara umumnya, masa tunda yang didapati daripada kajian ini boleh digunakan bagi meramal masa tunda sesebuah kenderaan pada situasi yang berlainan di plaza tol. Selain itu, menaik taraf system plaza tol juga dapat mengurangkan masa tunda kenderaan semasa berada di plaza tol. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Toll plazas play important role in generating revenues to the expressway agencies. Large portion of the revenues is collected for the operation and maintenance of the expressway. Malaysia’s toll plaza consists of three types of toll booth which are cash payment, Touch ‘n Go and Smart Tag toll booth. Expressway user must passing through the toll plaza before it is allowed to travel on it. However, toll plaza had introduced additional delay time on expressway user’s travel time. During peak hour of a normal weekday, vehicles queue can be noticed in front of toll plaza especially on cash payment toll booth. This situation happened for both entry and exit of toll plaza. When traffic volume exceeding toll plaza capacity, vehicles queue begun to extend to few kilometres away from toll plaza into the expressway. Eventually, vehicles queue disturbed the flow of vehicles on expressway. Hence, investigation of delay time of vehicles is carried out to determine the average delay time and factors that affect the delay time at exit of toll plaza. From the investigation, queuing time and processing time is obtained from the video recording play back that setup nearby exit of toll plaza. Total delay time is obtained from the summation of queuing time and processing time of vehicles at toll plaza. From the field data, mean value, standard deviation, and highest frequency of delay time of vehicles is obtained. Besides that, prediction and improvement of the delay time on vehicles at various kind of situation can be made through the finding.
