Kajian berterusan pada persimpangan kawalan berhenti yang sedia ada adalah penting untuk memastikan persimpangan ini berfungsi sebaiknya selaras dengan perubahan semasa. Parameter yang digunakan dalam kajian ini ialah isipadu lalulintas, ruangan genting dan masa tindak lanjut. Ruangan genting dan masa tindak lanjut yang tinggi akan menunjukkan masa menunggu yang lama pada kenderaan dilaluan minor yang ingin melakukan perjalanan ke laluan utama. Masa menunggu yang lama akan menyebabkan barisan menunggu yang panjang dan akan memberi kesan kepada seluruh sistem jalan raya kerana persimpangan berindak sebagai sendi untuk menghubungkan antara laluan minor dan laluan utama. Tujuan utama kajian ini dibuat adalah untuk menganalisis ruangan genting menggunakan kaedah Greenshield dan membuat perbandingan dengan kaedah lain seperti kaedah Raff‟s dengan membuat rujukan daripada nilai HCM 2000. Muatan keupayaaan juga dianalisis memandangkan ia akan memberikan nilai muatan yang mampu ditampung oleh persimpangan tersebut. Kawasan kajian adalah meliputi Parit Buntar dan Nibong Tebal. Kerja lapangan dibuat dengan menggunakan kamera video (CCTV). Rakaman ini akan dimainkan semula menggunakan perisian „video data extraction‟ (VDET) dimana isipadu lalulintas, ruangan genting dan waktu tindak lanjut dapat dikenalpasti. Keputusan kajian menunujukkan nilai ruangan genting yang menggunakan kaedah Greenshield adalah lebih jitu terhadap nilai yang dicadangkan oleh HCM 2000 dimana nilai sisihanya kurang daripada 50%. Analisis untuk isipadu laluintas menunujukkan isipadu yang kurang pada semua persimpangan dan masa tindak lanjut pula menunjukkan nilai yang masih dalam lingkungan cadangan HCM 2000. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Continuous studies on existing unsignalised intersection are important to make sure the facilities are able to adapt with current adjustment. Every year with increasing number of citizens will abruptly increase the number of road users. The parameters included in this research are traffic volume, critical gap and follow-up time. A high value of critical gap and follow up time mean there be a long delay on the minor road to continue the journey into main stream as well the vehicles behind to continue the merging. This excessive waiting time will result in undesired queued line and will affected on overall road network because the unsignalised intersection is acted like a joint that connected the main stream to the minor stream. The aim of this research is to analyze the critical gap by using Greenshield method and made the comparison value with another method such as Raff‟s method beside refer to the standard recommendation value from Highway capacity manual (HCM), latest edition in 2000. Potential capacity also important parameters need to be analyzed since it will indicate the ideal capacity of the intersection. The site include in this research are located in Parit Buntar and Nibong Tebal. Field work was carried out by using video camera (CCTV) to record the traffic movement. The recorded traffic movement then is played back by using video data extraction (VDET) software where traffic volume, critical gap and follow up time can be measured. The result shows that critical gap obtained by Greenshield method is more accurate to the recommendation value from HCM 2000 where the deviation is less than 50%. The volume analysis exhibited a result there are low capacity at all selected intersections and the follow up time values shows a value that still in the recommended value from HCM 2000.
