Kekurangan air adalah masalah utama di kebanyakan tempat di dunia. Di sesetengah kawasan, masalah kekurangan air adalah berpunca daripada tiada sumber air yang mencukupi untuk membekalkan permintaan air yang semakin meningkat, manakala di kawasan lain mempunyai masalah ekonomi, di mana sumber air adalah berlebihan tetapi sistem pengurusan yang lemah dan masalah-masalah lain menyebabkan air tidak dapat disediakan untuk kebanyakan penduduk. Banyak kaedah telah digunakan untuk menyimpan air dan penggunaan semula. Penuaian air hujan adalah salah satu cara yang sesuai untuk dilaksanakan di Malaysia. Negara kita secara semula jadi telah dikurniakan dengan jumlah hujan yang banyak setiap tahun. Selain itu, sistem tadahan air hujan adalah satu penyelesaian mudah yang boleh diguna pakai dalam banyak kawasan di negara kita. Oleh itu, satu kajian sistem penuaian air hujan telah dijalankan di Pusat Jagaan Darul Hanan. Untuk kajian ini, parameter air hujan telah dianalisis, sistem akan direka bentuk dan kos pemasangan akan diperolehi. Pengumpulan air hujan telah dilakukan di antara Januari 2014 hingga Februari 2014. Sampel air hujan akan diuji dan keputusan akan menunjukkan sama ada air hujan sesuai digunakan untuk tujuan seperti tangki simbah dan pengairan. Reka bentuk sistem penuaian air hujan telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan Pengisian Tangki Nahrim dan kos pemasangan sistem akan dikira. Berdasarkan kajian ini, jelas bahawa kawasan tadahan yang lebih besar akan memberikan nisbah kebolehpercayaan yang tinggi untuk sistem kerana kemampuannya untuk menperolehi lebih banyak air hujan. Untuk jangka masa panjang, sistem penuaian air hujan akan memberi keuntungan kerana ia boleh menjimatkan sejumlah air yang banyak. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Water scarcity is a major problem in many parts of the world. In some regions, there is physical water scarcity because there are not enough resources of water to supply the increasing water demand, while other parts of the world have an economic scarcity, where resources are more abundant but poor governance and other problems render water unavailable for most of the population. Many methods have been developed for water storage and reuse. Rainwater harvesting is one option worth to be implemented in Malaysia. Our country have been naturally blessed with an abundant amount of rainfall annually. Moreover, the rainwater catchment systems are a simple solution that can be adopted in many parts of our country. Therefore, a study of rainwater harvesting system was conducted at Darul Hanan Care Centre. For this study, the parameters of rainwater were analyzed, the system was designed properly and the installation cost will be obtained. The rainwater collection had been done in between January 2014 to February 2014. This rainwater sample will be tested and the results will indicates weather the rainwater is suitable to be used for purposes such as toilet flushing and irrigation. The design of the rainwater harvesting system were done by using the Tangki Nahrim Software and the installation cost of the system will be calculated. Based on the study, it becomes clear that larger catchment area will give a high reliability ratio of the systems due to its ability to capture more rainwater. In a long term future, the rainwater harvesting system will be beneficiary because it can safe a huge amount of water.
