Membran Polynivylidene fluoride, PVDF telah digunakan secara meluas dalam industri sebagai membran untuk memekatkan jus. PVDF ialah sejenis polimer yang biasa digunakan untuk membuat hidrofobik membrane sebab ia bersesuian sebagai penghubung. Kemudian, sistem penyulingan osmosis disediakan untuk memekatkan roselle jus pada skala makmal. Eksperimen ini telah menggunakan jenis membran yang berbeza yang mana ianya, PTFE, PVDF, PVDF yang diubahsuai, and membrane buatan. Eksperimen ini telah dijalankan pada suhu tetap dan kadar aliran yang tetap untuk masuk dan keluar. Osmosis ejen dalam pembelajaran ini ialah larutan pekat CaCl2 dengan kadar kepekatan 30% to 70%. Membran yang telah disintesis telah dianalisa dengan menggunakan ujian sudut sentuhan static, mikroskp imbasan electron (SEM) dan SPEKTROSKOPI (FT-IR). Membran PTFE yang telah digunakan telah menghasilkan sudut sentuhan static paling tinggi iaitu 121°. Ia disebabkan penahan yang berlaku pada atas permukaan membrane yang menjadikan ia tidak hirofobik. Gambar SEM telah menunjukkan morfologi membran untuk sebelum dan selepas. Ia membuktikan zarah rosel diatas permukaan membran yang menyebabkan penahan. Fluks keluar telah mencapai sekitar 17 kg/m2.hr to 689 kg/m2.hr. Sebatian phenolic telah dijumpai pada sepadan dengan ukuran kepekatan antara 135 mg/L to 145 mg/L. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Polyvinylidene fluoride, PVDF membranes have been widely used in industry as a membrane to concentrate juice. PVDF is a common polymer which used to make hydrophobic membrane because it is suit as a contactor. Then, osmotic distillation system was prepared to concentrate roselle juice at laboratory scale. This experiment was used different type of membrane which are PTFE, PVDF, modified PVDF, and cast membrane. This experiment was run at constant temperature and constant flow rate for permeate and feed. The osmotic agent in this study was a concentrated CaCl2 solution with concentrate range from 30% to 50%. The synthesized membrane were analyze by using contact angle test, scanning electronic microscope (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Used PTFE membrane was produced the highest contact angle of 121°. It is because of fouling was occur on the surface of the membrane that make membrane no more hydrophobic. SEM image was shown the morphology of the membrane for before and after. It proved that roselle particles was on the membrane surface that cause fouling. The permeate flux for all membrane was achieved around 17 kg/m2.hr to 689 kg/m2.hr. The phenolic compound was found on the feed with concentration range 135 mg/L to 145 mg/L.
