Tujuan projek ini adalah untuk mereka bentuk dan membangunkan satu sistem pengesanan kenderaan terbalik yang mempunyai kecekapan kuasa untuk kegunaan masyarakat umum. Sistem pengesanan kenderaan terbalik dibahagikan kepada dua bahagian termasuk sistem penderia dan sistem terbenam. Sistem penderia diperlukan dalam rekabentuk ini untuk menukarkan fenomena fizikal ke isyarat elektrik. Di samping itu, sistem terbenam digunakan untuk menafsirkan isyarat digital dan menghantar isyarat amaran kepada pasukan penyelamat apabila kenderaan terbabas. Sistem penderia dan sistem terbenam direkabentuk berasingan dan selepas itu digabungkan untuk membentuk satu sistem pengesanan terbalikan kenderaan yang lengkap. Projek ini menumpukan keutamaan untuk mencari sudut cerun bagi kenderaan dan lokasi kenderaan terbalik. Ini memerlukan pengunaan unit ukuran inersia yang dipasang pada kenderaan untuk mengukur sudut cerun kenderaan dan GPS untuk mencari tempat kenderaan yang terbalik. Setakat ini, unit ukuran inersia hanya digunakan untuk mengesan kenderaan terbalik dari sisi kenderaan sahaja. Ini bermaksud hanya satu paksi peranti ukuran pecutan dan gegasing digunakan. Unit ukuran inersia digunakan kerana gabungan peranti ukuran pecutan dan gegasing akan memberikan suatu sudut cerun bagi kenderaan yang lebih dipercayai. Ini disebabkan peranti ukuran pecutan akan membatalkan ketidakstabilan gegasing manakala gegasing akan meratakan hingar dari peranti ukuran pecutan. Fungsi ukuran sudut dan pengesanan lokasi GPS telah Berjaya dilaksanakan dalam projek ini. Kejayaan kajian ini boleh membantu dalam penciptaan satu sistem untuk mengurangkan kematian yang berpunca daripada kemalangan jalan raya pada larut malam di kawasan sunyi atau kenderaan terbalik yang kerap berlaku tanpa disedari orang lain. ___________________________________________________________________________________ The purpose of this project is to design and develop a power efficient overturn detection system usable by general public. Overturn detection system is divided into two major parts including sensor system and embedded system. A sensor system is required in this design to convert the physical phenomenon into electrical signal. On the other hand, embedded system is used to interpret digital signal and send alert signal to rescue team when overturn of vehicle happen. The sensor system and embedded system were designed separately and after that they were combined together to form a complete overturn detection system. This project mainly focuses on finding the inclination angle of vehicle and location of overturned vehicle, which employs inertial measurement unit (IMU) placed on the vehicles to measure the angle of inclination of the vehicles and GPS to find the location of overturned vehicle. Upon this stage, the IMU only used to detect the rollover of the vehicles from the sides of the vehicles, which means only single axis of accelerometer and gyroscope are used. IMU is used because combination of accelerometer and gyroscope will give a more reliable inclination angle of vehicle. This is because accelerometer will cancel out the instability of gyroscope while gyroscope will smooth out the noise from accelerometer. This project has successfully implemented the angle measuring and GPS location detection function. The success of this research can help in invention of a system to reduce casualties aroused from latenight road accidents in deserted areas or overturned vehicles, often happen unnoticed
