Sistem perhubungan yang tipikal mengandungi dua bahagian, iaitu sistem penghantaran dan sistem penerimaan. Informasi dalam bentuk analog ataupun dalam bentuk digit akan disalurkan dari pemancar ke penerima melalui saluran. Data digital boleh disalurkan dalam pelbagai bentuk gelombang seperti bentuk segi empat, bentuk sinc dan sebagainya. Gelombang yang berbentuk sinc membawa pelbagai faedah berbanding dengan gelombang berbentuk segi empat. Penerima mengandungi modulator untuk menukar bentuk gelombang. Modulator bagi gelombang sinc boleh mengubahkan bentuk gelombang ke bentuk sinc. Namun, gelombang berbentuk sinc memerlukan proses yang rumit dan susah. Litar digital telah digunakan dalam projek ini kerana litar digital memerlukan komponen yang lebih kurang. Gelombang sinc bagi data yang berkenaan akan dihasilkan apabila gelombang input dimasuk ke modulator tersebut. Objektif bagi projek ini termasuk kajian tentang teori gelombang berbentuk sinc, simulasi untuk modulator dengan perisian dan penghasilan modulator tersebut dengan perkakasan. Konsep gelombang berbentuk sinc akan dikaji. Semua gelombang berbentuk sinc yang ideal bagi data input yang berbeza telah dilukis. Selepas ini, komponen yang diperlukan dalam modulator ini telah dikenalpasti. Simulasi litar telah dijalankan sebelum membina litar tersebut di breadboard atau PCB. Modulator gelombang bagi bentuk sinc akan disiap sebagai papan litar tercetak akhirnya. Keputusan daripada simulasi dan perkakasan telah diambil dan dikaji. Pelbagai jenis input telah digunakan untuk mengaji projek ini. Analisis statistik telah digunakan untuk membandingkan kedua-dua keputusan. Keputusan daripada PCB adalah sama dengan keputusan daripada simulasi. Analisis dan kajian tentang kedua-dua keputusan telah dibuat. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ A typical digital communication system comprises transmit system and receive system. Information from source can be either analogue signal or digital signal will be sent from a transmitter to a receiver through a channel. Digital data could be transmitted in different types of shape pulses such as rectangular pulse, sinc-shaped pulse and etc. Sinc-shaped pulse provides many advantages compared to traditional rectangular pulse. Pulse shaping filter or pulse modulator is always used by transmitter to change the waveform of transmitting pulses. A sinc-shaped pulse modulator is a thing which can change the transmitted waveforms into sinc-shaped pulses for further uses. However, sinc-shaped pulses required complex equipment to construct. Digital circuitry is used in this project as it requires less components compared to analog circuitry. Sinc-shaped waveform corresponding to the data sequences will be produced after the data inputs are inserted to the sinc-shaped pulse modulator. The objectives of this project is to study and understand the concept of sinc-shaped pulse, develop a software simulation of the sinc-shaped pulse modulator and implement it in hardware. First of all, concept of sinc-shaped pulse is studied. All the ideal waveforms corresponding to different data sequences are plotted. Next, components needed to build a sinc-shaped pulse modulator are identified. Simulation of circuit is carried out prior to hardware implementation of the circuit. A sinc-shaped pulse modulator PCB is fabricated as the final prototype of the project. Results from software and hardware implementation are observed and evaluated by inserting different data inputs. Statistical analysis is carried out to compare both results. Result between simulation and hardware implementation is similar and acceptable. Discussion and analysis of both results are made.
