Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menyiasat kesan penstabil cecair NBT 1 dan penstabil cecair NBT 2 terhadap ciri-ciri kejuruteraan Laterites dan tanah organik. Penstabil cecair NBT 1 ialah penstabil yang berasaskan kimia manakala penstabil cecair NBT 2 adalah penstabil yang berasaskan polimer. Penstabil cecair NBT 1 dan NBT 2 ditambah kepada tanah dengan jumlah 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% dan 10% dari berat tanah. Ujian makmal termasuk Atterberg Limits Test, Modified Proctor Test, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) dan ujian pengukuhan (Oedometer Test) dijalankan untuk menyiasat ciri-ciri kejuruteraan tanah dengan menggunakan dua penstabil cecair berbeza. Keputusan yang diperoleh dari eksperimen dibandingkan dengan ciri-ciri tanah semula jadi. Dari keputusan diperolehi, ia menunjukkan bahawa penstabil cecair NBT 1 dan NBT2 meningkatkan ketumpatan kering maksimum Laterites dan mengurangkan kandungan lembapan optimum pada 2%. Namum begitu, penggunaan penstabil cecair NBT 1 dan NBT 2 tidak meningkatkan ciri-ciri kejuruteraan tanah organik. Maka, kedua-dua pengimbang cecair NBT 1 dan NBT 2 adalah tidak bersesuaian untuk tanah organik tetapi mempunyai pembaikan kecil pada Laterites. Bagaimanapun, penstabil cecair NBT 2 menunjukkan kemajuan yang ketara dalam kejuruteraan ciri-ciri Laterites sebagai berbanding dengan penstabil cecair NBT 1. ___________________________________________________________________________________ This study is to investigate the effect of liquid stabilizer NBT 1 and liquid stabilizer NBT 2 on the engineering properties of Laterites and organic soil. Liquid stabilizer NBT 1 is chemical-based stabilizer whereas liquid stabilizer NBT 2 is polymer-based stabilizer. The liquid stabilizer NBT 1 and NBT 2 is added to the soil with the amount of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% by weight of the soil. Laboratory tests include Atterberg Limits Test, Modified Proctor Test, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and consolidation test (Oedometer Test) are done to investigate the engineering properties of soils with the addition of the two different liquid stabilizers. The results obtained from the experiment are compared with the properties of the natural soil. From the results obtained, it shows that the liquid stabilizer NBT 1 and NBT2 increases the maximum dry density and decreases the optimum moisture content of Laterites at 2%. However, the addition of liquid stabilizer NBT 1 and NBT 2 did not improve the engineering properties of organic soil. Hence, both liquid stabilizers NBT 1 and NBT 2 is not suitable for organic soil but had slight improvement on Laterites. However, liquid stabilizer NBT 2 shown significant improvement in engineering properties of Laterites as compared to liquid stabilizer NBT 1.
