BS EN 60966-4-1:1996 is a European Standard titled "Radio-frequency cables - Part 4-1: Sectional specification for radiating cables - General requirements". This standard specifies the general requirements for radiating cables used in radio frequency (RF) communication systems.
Radiating cables are a type of coaxial cable that are designed to radiate RF energy along their length, rather than simply conducting the energy from one point to another. They are commonly used in applications where traditional antennas are not practical or desirable, such as in tunnels, buildings, or other confined spaces.
BS EN 60966-4-1:1996 specifies the construction, electrical properties, and test methods for radiating cables. It also provides guidance on the appropriate use and installation of radiating cables. This standard applies to radiating cables with an operating frequency range of up to 18 GHz.
The standard was originally published in 1996 and has since been updated and revised several times. It is recognized as a harmonized standard by the European Union and is used by manufacturers of radiating cables to ensure that their products meet the necessary safety, performance, and quality requirements.
