Teknologi cahaya telah pesat berkembang seiring dengan dunia yang semakin berteknologi tinggi. Disebabkan nilai merit yang tinggi, teknologi diod pemancar cahaya atau “LED” kini semakin menjadi tarikan dalam pelbagai aplikasi pencahayaan. Oleh itu, sistem cahaya untuk lampu belakang pada motorsikal menjadi contoh kepada aplikasi yang boleh dikaji berikutan jangka hayat LED yang lama menjadikan ia peranti pencahayaan yang menarik bagi kenderaaan. Prestasi lanjut dan juga kebolehpasaran lampu belakang untuk motorsikal dikaji dengan membangunkan satu penyesuaian semula Diod Pancaran Cahaya (LED) telah dipertimbangkan. Kajian ini juga termasuk meluaskan pandangan pada pengurusan haba yang kerap kali menjadi isu dengan pengunaan Diod Pancaran Cahaya. Oleh itu, sistem pembebasan haba adalah fokus utama dalam rekabentuk sistem pencahayaan yang berasaskan teknologi LED ini. Analisis dibuat berdasarkan uji kaji dan juga pengiraan menggunakan perisian Solidwork dan juga ANSYS. Rekabentuk untuk pengurusan haba dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada gabungan campuran paip haba Tembaga (Cu ) dan paip ultra leper Aluminium (Al). Butiran prestasi penyebaran haba, terutamanya taburan suhu LED menunjukkan sedikit peningkatan berbanding dengan lampu belakang biasa yang kerap digunakan untuk motosikal. Kajian yang dijalankan menunjukkan bahawa suhu adalah lebih rendah dengan penggunaan sinki haba. Dengan sistem pengawal haba yang optimum, jangka hayat prestasi pencahayaan lampu LED dapat dipanjangkan. Namun, jangka hayat sistem pencahayaan LED juga bergantung kepada gerakan mekanikal (getaran), selain berkait rapat dengan cuaca dan juga kelembapan. Kerja-kerja masa hadapan tentang pemilihan bahan dan juga pengurusan haba yang diharap dapat dijalankan dengan mengambil kira segala limitasi berdasarkan spesifikasi teknologi terkini. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ It is widely known that light technology has been swiftly progressed as the world became more tech savvy. Due to its several kinds of merit especially its promising application to heat management, Light Emitting Diode or “LED” is becoming a noticeable research. In conjunction with the application, it is often noticed that the luminaire system of rear light for motorcycle could be an application example as LED has a longer lifetime that make it an appealing device for vehicle. Further performance and also viability of rear light for motorcycle has been taken as consideration by developing a retrofit Light Emitting Diode (LED). This study also extends its view onto the thermal management as heat was frequently an issue with the usage of LED. Therefore, the heat releasing system is the main focus in designing a luminaire of LED based lighting system. The analyses made were based on the experimentation and also computations using Solidwork and ANSYS software. Design for thermal management was assembled with mixed combination of Copper (Cu) heat pipes and Aluminum (Al) ultra-flat pipes. Details of heat dispersion performance, particularly the temperature distribution of LED shows slight improvement compared to regular rear light used for motorcycles. Results demonstrate that the temperature is lower as heat sinks are used. Besides, LED lighting lifecycle performance could be extended with optimization use of heat management system. However, the lifetime of LED is depending on mechanical motion (vibration) as well and it is closely related with ambient temperature and humidity. Notwithstanding the limitation, a future work is expected on material selection and also thermal management based on up-to-date specification of technology.
