LLC resonant converter parallel-series with transformer connection for photovoltaic system

LLC resonant converter parallel-series with transformer connection for photovoltaic system / Mohd Al Asyraf Mohd Sofian
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ LLC resonant converter parallel-series with transformer connection is presented to achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) for power MOSFETs. Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) have many drawbacks for example devices turn on and off during high load current, switches experience high voltage stress and power losses is high. The objective of this project is to increase the output voltage and enhance the efficiency of the LLC resonant converter. In photovoltaic application, the output voltage needed is very high. On input side, the primary windings of two transformer are connected in parallel to supply the same input current and reduce root-mean-square RMS current so that the copper losses on transformer is reduced. While the secondary windings is connected in series to divide the current from primary side and reduce the secondary windings. Thus, the size of the transformer core and bobbin will reduced. On the output side, the full-wave rectifier diode is apply in order to generate same voltage stress with output voltage. The laboratory experiments with a 100W prototype will described more detail and verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter. Generally, the transformer core and bobbin size is reduced and still able to produce high efficiency at around 84.79% for the photovoltaic system.
