BS EN 60514:1995 is a European standard that specifies the requirements for the calibration and testing of sound level meters. The standard applies to both Class 1 and Class 2 sound level meters, which are used to measure sound pressure levels in various environments, such as occupational noise assessments, environmental noise monitoring, and building acoustics testing.
The standard specifies the procedures for calibrating sound level meters, including the use of reference sound sources and the determination of measurement uncertainty. It also provides guidance on the testing of sound level meters, including the use of appropriate test signals and the evaluation of measurement results.
In addition, the standard provides requirements for the labeling and documentation of sound level meters, including information on their calibration status and measurement capabilities.
It is important to note that this standard has been superseded by the updated version, EN 61672-1:2013. This newer version includes additional requirements and updated procedures to reflect advances in technology and changes in industry practices.
