Penelapsejatan adalah salah satu proses pemisahan membran yang menjadi popular kerana ia lebih jimat tenaga jika dibandingkan dengan proses pemisahan yang lazim. ZIF-7 dan MWCNT/ZIF-7 telah disintesis melalui proses solvothermal. Sampel kemudian telah dicirikan oleh analisis TGA, SEM dan EDX analisis, Analisis Elemental dan analisis BET. Analisis TGA memberikan kestabilan terma yang lebih tinggi untuk ZIF-7 dan MWCNT/ZIF-7 sehingga ke takat suhu 450°C dan 530°C. Analisis SEM menunjukkan morfologi dan struktur kedua-dua sampel di mana MWCNT/ZIF-7 menunjukkan perubahan di permukaan disebabkan oleh penggabungan MWCNT dengan ZIF-7. EA dan analisis EDX memberikan komposisi setiap unsur di mana kandungan karbon yang lebih tinggi telah dikesan di MWCNT/ZIF-7. Analisis kawasan permukaan telah dilakukan oleh dengan menggunakan kaedah BET di mana MWCNT/ZIF-7 mempunyai kawasan permukaan yang lebih rendah berbanding dengan ZIF -7 kerana liang permukaan telah disekat oleh MWCNT. Kemudian, MWCNT/ZIF-7 telah digabungkan dengan larutan PVA asli untuk membentuk membran matrik campuran (MWCNT/ZIF-7/PVA). Pencirian membran MWCNT/ZIF-7/PVA itu dilakukan dengan menjalankan proses penelapsejatan itu. Dengan penggabungan MWCNT/ZIF-7 ke atas permukaan membrane PVA tulen, fluks yang tinggi telah diperolehi. Peningkatan fluks adalah disebabkan MWCNTs dan ZIF-7 merupakan bahan yang mempunyai banyak liang dan luas permukaan yang tinggi. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Pervaporation was one of the membrane separation processes which become popular because it is more energy savings than other conventional separation processes. ZIF-7 and MWCNT/ZIF-7 was synthesized via solvothermal process. The samples then were characterized by TGA analysis, SEM and EDX analysis, Elemental Analysis and BET analysis. TGA analysis results showed that ZIF-7 and MWCNT/ZIF-7 have the thermal stability up to 450°C and 530°C, respectively. SEM analysis showed the morphology and structure of both sample where MWCNT/ZIF-7 showed changes on the surface due to the incorporation of MWCNT. EA and EDX analysis gave the composition of each element in the samples as higher carbon content was spotted in MWCNT/ZIF-7. The surface area analysis was done by BET method where MWCNT/ZIF-7 had lower surface area compared to ZIF-7 because of the blockage of pore by MWCNT. Then, MWCNT/ZIF-7 was incorporated with pure PVA solution to form mixed matrix membrane (MWCNT/ZIF-7/PVA). The characterization of the MWCNT/ZIF-7/PVA membrane was done by running the pervaporation process. Higher flux obtained from MWCNT/ZIF-7/PVA as the incorporation of MWCNT/ZIF-7 onto the surface of pure PVA membrane. Since MWCNT and ZIF-7 are highly porous materials with high surface area, thus it enhanced the permeation flux.
