BS ISO 7919-2:1996 is an international standard that addresses the measurement and evaluation of mechanical vibration in non-reciprocating machines, with a specific focus on rotating shafts. The standard provides criteria for assessing the vibration levels and characteristics of large land-based steam turbine generator sets.
Large land-based steam turbine generator sets are commonly used in power generation plants, and their mechanical integrity and performance are critical. Excessive vibration in these machines can be an indicator of issues such as misalignment, unbalance, or other mechanical problems, which may lead to reduced efficiency and increased wear and tear.
