BS EN 60137:1996 is a European Standard titled "Insulated bushings for alternating voltages above 1000 V". This standard specifies the requirements for insulated bushings used in high-voltage electrical equipment operating at voltages above 1000 V.
The standard covers a range of bushing types, including porcelain and composite bushings. It provides detailed specifications for each type of bushing, including their voltage rating, creepage distance, and electrical characteristics.
BS EN 60137:1996 also specifies the requirements for bushing testing, including tests for electrical and mechanical characteristics, as well as environmental testing. It provides guidelines for the interpretation of test results and the comparison of different bushing types based on their performance characteristics.
Compliance with BS EN 60137:1996 is required in many countries to ensure the safety and reliability of high-voltage electrical equipment used in a wide range of applications. The standard has been updated several times since its initial publication to reflect the latest developments in bushing technology and testing methods.
