Tesis ini membentangkan reka bentuk beralih antena berarah untuk stesen bumi Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Reka bentuk ini adalah untuk membantu High Alititude Balloon (HAB) sentiasa berkomunikasi dengan stesen bumi di USM. Keadaan ini berlaku disebabkan oleh batasan antena berarah di stesen bumi untuk mengesan isyarat daripada HAB. Reka bentuk memberikan keupayaan untuk antena boleh menyorot 180 darjah dan kecondongan 90 darjah. Ini memberikan usul itu beralih arah untuk antena berarah dan membolehkan antena untuk menguasai lebih banyak isyarat dalam sudut yang ditayangkan. Antena ini akan menyorot dan kecondongan mengikut isyarat yang dipancarkan daripada antena dari HAB. Ini akan membolehkan HAB yang dipantau di seluruh pembebasan dari stesen bumi ke atmosfera dan turun kembali ke bumi. Reka bentuk ini juga membolehkan aliran langsung daripada HAB disebabkan kekuatan isyarat boleh dijamin. Oleh itu, reka bentuk antena berarah beralih untuk stesen bumi merupakan penambahbaikan kepada HAB dari USM. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This thesis presents the retractable design for directional antenna for University of Science Malaysia (USM) stationary ground station. This design is to assist High Altitude Balloon (HAB) to not loose contact with the ground station in USM. This situation happens due to the limitations of the directional antenna in the ground station to track the signal. The design developed is in such way as the antenna can pan 180 degrees and tilt to 90 degrees. This gives the retractable motion to the directional antenna and enables the antenna to capture more signal in the projected angle. The antenna will pan and tilt according to the signal transmitted from the antenna from HAB. This would enable the HAB to be monitored throughout the release from ground station to atmosphere and descend back to earth. With this designed antenna, live streaming are also possible as the signal strength can be guaranteed. Therefore, this design of retractable directional antenna for stationary ground station is an improvisation to the HAB from USM.
