Sistem perhubungan berkembang dengan pesatnya. Sistem perhubungan yang berkualiti atau berkebolehpercayaan tinggi diperlukan bagi menghasilkan suatu sistem yang global. Dalam perhubungan satelit, isyarat yang berambat dari stesen bumi ke satelit mengalami gangguan daripada berbagai-bagai faktor yang boleh melemahkan kuasa isyarat serta merubah bentuknya sehingga menyukarkan penerima sistem perhubungan untuk memproseskannya. Faktor utama yang melemahkan isyarat satelit yang berfrekuensi 10 GHz ke atas ialah hujan. Analisis data pelemahan hujan pada frekuensi 12.255 GHz dijalankan di Universiti Sains Malaysia Kampus Kejuruteraan. Data hujan telah dikumpulkan setahun lebih awal sebelum analisis dibuat. Data ini dibuka dengan menggunakan perisian Kisyo-Disp dan kemudian dikumpul dan dianalisa menggunakan perisian Excel. Kajian ini membandingkan data yang dikumpul dengan data yang diramalkan oleh beberapa model seperti Model ITU, SAM CETUC, SVJATOGOR dan GARCIA. Di antara kelima-lima model tersebut model ITU memberi nilai pelemahan yang paling hampir dengan hasil kajian. Oleh itu, kajian ini telah berjaya membentuk model pelemahan isyarat tertentu bagi sistem komunikasi yang beroperasi pada frekuensi ini. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Nowadays, the communication systems are developing fast. The communication systems should have a good quality and high capability in order to reach a global system. In satellite communications, the signals that transmitted from earth station to satellite may have been interfered by many factor resulting attenuation to the signals. Thus, the receiver systems are unable to process it. The main factor that attenuated the satellite signals of 10 GHz frequency is rain. The analysis of rain attenuation data in 12.255 GHz has been done in University Science of Malaysia. The rain data has been collected one year earlier before the analysis need to be made. The data was opened using the Kisyo-Disp software and analyzed using the Microsoft Excel.This thesis compared the collected data with the data from ITU, SAM, CETUC, SVJATOGOR and GARCIA model. From the five model, ITU model agrees reasonably well with the measured value. This thesis has successful formed the model of attenuation signal which can helps in order to estimate the attenuation value in certain rate for communication systems that operated in this frequency.
