Abstract BS EN 61010-2-061:1996 is a British Standard that specifies safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use. This standard is specifically focused on safety requirements for laboratory centrifuges. The standard outlines general safety requirements, such as protection against electric shock, fire hazards, and mechanical hazards. It also specifies specific safety requirements for centrifuges, including requirements for electrical insulation, protection against mechanical hazards such as rotor failure, and protection against centrifuge imbalance. BS EN 61010-2-061:1996 also includes requirements for marking and documentation, such as warning labels and user manuals, to ensure that the users of the equipment are aware of the potential hazards and how to use the equipment safely.
