BS EN 60282-1:1996 is a British Standard that specifies the requirements for high-voltage fuses rated up to and including 300 kV for use in power systems.
The standard covers expulsion fuses and current-limiting fuses, which are designed to protect power system equipment from overcurrents and short-circuits. It provides guidelines for the construction, performance, and testing of these fuses, including requirements for aspects such as the fuse element, the fuse housing, and the fuse holder.
BS EN 60282-1:1996 also provides information on the application of high-voltage fuses in power systems, including guidance on the selection and installation of fuses, as well as recommendations for the coordination of fuses with other protective devices in the system.
The standard is intended for use by manufacturers, designers, and users of high-voltage fuses. It aims to ensure that fuses are safe, reliable, and perform their intended function in protecting power system equipment from overcurrents and short-circuits.
