Development of a prototype single phase voltage multiplier using the cockroft-walton method for high voltage dc application / Zaini Zakaria
Berdasarkan keputusan yang diperolehi ia membuktikan bahawa 3 parameter ini adalah berkadar langsung dengan purata voltan keluaran _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This thesis presents the development of a single phase voltage multiplier using the Cockcroft-Walton (CW) voltage multiplier method for high voltage DC application. The aim of this project is to design a high voltage generator based on CW voltage multiplier which is widely used in many high voltage low-current application. The design of High Voltage-Direct Current generator could provide some knowledge and understanding in High Voltage Direct Current generator and for Research and Development (R&D) as well as production purpose. The CW voltage multiplier for High Voltage-Direct current was design using software ORCAD 16.3 and the prototype of 6-stages CW voltage multiplier with the mean output voltage of 142.0V was developed. From this development the value of capacitor used is 60nF and frequency varies from 50Hz up to 2kHz. The results of mean output voltage from experiment increase with increasing value of frequency. When frequency increase from 50Hz up to 2kHz the percentage ripple voltage will reduce from 7.46% to 2.19%. The finding from this project had discover that the mean output voltage are influence by 3 parameters, namely number of stage, N, frequency, f and also capacitance, C. In order to compare the effect of this 3 parameter, difference value is used. From the result obtained it proven that the effect of this 3 parameter is directly proportional with mean output voltage.
