Suatu sistem automatik FPGA telah dibangunkan untuk mengesan, menjejak dan menyasarkan objek bergerak dengan menggunakan sinaran laser, melalui pemprosesan video dan teknologi padanan silang korelasi templat. Ia dinamakan EmODeTTS. Seperti yang diketahui, sesetengah serangga perosak merosakkan tanaman makanan dan membawa penyakit kepada manusia. Cara konvensional membunuh serangga dengan racun serangga telah membawa masalah kepada penghasilan tanaman makanan dengan membunuh agen pendebungaan seperti lebah madu selain membawa masalah kesihatan kepada manusia. Suatu cara alternatif yang lebih baik, bersih, selamat, dan mesra alam untuk menghapuskan serangga perosak perlu dibangunkan dengan kadar segera. Serangga perosak ialah contoh objek bergerak yang mana EmODeTTS dapat digunakan untuk tujuan penghapusan. EmODeTTS telah berjaya dibina dengan menggunakan NI sbRIO-9632, sebuah papan komputer, sebuah PC, sistem CNC dan LabVIEW. LabVIEW telah dijadikan bahasa pengaturcaraan kerana kemudahannya menghasilkan reka bentuk selari terutamanya dalam FPGA. Dua cara telah diusulkan untuk menjalankan pengesanan objek. Pertama sekali, algoritma “Converging Rectangles”, versi lain algoritma konvensional yang digunakan iaitu “Converging Squares”. Cara kedua ialah padanan corak berdasarkan templat. Keupayaan kedua-dua cara dinilai dari aspek kelajuan, ketepatan dan kemampuan mengesan beberapa objek. Kemudian, teknik yang lebih baik akan diimplementasikan dalam sistem akhir untuk menjalankan pengesanan objek. Lokasi objek yang dikesan akan ditukar kepada nadi isyarat untuk dijana oleh papan FPGA. Isyarat ini akan mengawal motor pelangkah di mana sebuah alat penunjuk laser telah diletak di atasnya untuk menyasarkan objek. Prestasi keseluruhan dan kestabilan sistem yang dibangunkan telah dinilai menggunakan caracara pengawalan proses statistik seperti carta kawalan dan didapati stabil selepas mengurangkan frekuensi motor dari 500 kepada 400 Mhz. Pelbagai ujian telah dijalankan untuk menilai kemantapan sistem dalam menangani beberapa objek. Kebolehan EmODeTTS menangani pelbagai objek bergerak termasuk serangga sebenar telah ditunjukkan. Ia boleh digunakan untuk menyasarkan serangga secara pilihan antara pelbagai objek bukan sasaran. ___________________________________________________________________________________ An automated FGPA-based system has been developed to detect, track and target moving objects using a laser beam, via video processing and cross-correlation template matching technology. It is codenamed EmODeTTS. Some insect pests have been known to destroy food crops, and some to bring about diseases to mankind. The conventional way of killing insect pests using pesticides has posed potentially disastrous problem to food crop production by destroying beneficial insect pollinators such as the honey bees, besides bringing serious health issues to humans. An alternative better, cleaner, safer and environmentally more friendly method to kill insect pests need to be urgently developed. Insect pests are examples of moving objects of interest which the EmODeTTS may be applied for elimination. The EmODeTTS has been successfully built using an NI sbRIO-9632, a single board computer, a PC, a CNC system and LabVIEW. LabVIEW has been made the programming language of choice because of its ease of designing parallel designs especially on the FPGA. Two methods have been proposed to perform object detection. The first, the Converging Rectangles Algorithm, a modified version of the conventional Converging Squares Algorithm and the Templatebased Pattern Matching method. The performance of both methods are evaluated in terms of speed, accuracy and multiple objects detection capability. The better of the two techniques will then be employed on the final system to perform object detection. The detected location of the object will then be converted into pulse signals to be generated by the FPGA board. These signals will control a stepper motor on which a laser pointer has been mounted on to target the object. Overall performance and stability of the developed system has been evaluated by using statistical process control methods such as the control charts and found to be stable after reducing the frequency of the motor from 500 to 400 Mhz. Various tests were performed to evaluate the robustness of the system of handling multiple objects. The EmODeTTS was shown to be able to deal with a range of moving objects including a real insect. It may be used to selectively target an undesirable insect amidst multiple non-targets
