Perubahan platonik bumi kini telah menyebabkan gempa bumi kerap menyerang Sabah, Malaysia dan memerlukan penilaan terhadap beban seismik kepada bangunan yang sedia ada. Sebagaimana kita tahu, kebanyakan bangunan yang sedia ada di Malaysia direka mengikut British Standard dimana rekaannya tidak termasuk beban seismik. Walau bagaimanapun, kajian ini bertumpu untuk menyiasat lima tingkat bangunan konkrit tetulang bangunan biasa dan bangunan tingkat lemah. Ini kerana bangunan tingkat lemah mempunyai ketaksamaan ketinggian dan kelenturan pada tiang di tingkat pertama yang menyebabkan struktur lebih terdedah kepada kerosakan yang disebabkan oleh beban gempa bumi. Oleh itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk menganalisis kerosakan struktur menggunakan prestasi sesaran dan ciri-ciri engsel plastik menggunakan analisis statik dan dinamik tak linear dengan pelbagai tahap prestasi. Struktur direka mengikut rangka momen ringtang dengan mengambil kira beban seismik berdasarkan Eurocode seperti mana bangunan yang sedia ada direka menggunakan peraturan biasa untuk pertimbangan beban seismik. Selepas pengagihan daya lateral sepanjang tinggi bangunan diaplikasikan, formasi engsel plastik dan lengkung kapasiti diekstrak. Seterusnya, minimum tiga gerakan tanah dan menghasilkan gerak balas spektrum anjal diperlukan untuk Analisa Dinamik Tokokan (IDA). Ideanya adalah untuk mencari maksimum puncak pecutan tanah yang diperlukan untuk bangunan yang direka untuk runtuh. Bangunan biasa cenderung untuk mengalami sesaran dan kerosakan yang rendah berbanding bangunan tingkat lemah yang mempunyai pengurangan kelenturan dan ketaksamaan di tingkat pertama dan lebih terdedah kepada beban gempa bumi. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Changes of earth platonic recently has caused Sabah, Malaysia get strike by frequent earthquake and seismic vulnerability assessment for the existing building against this massive loading is required. As concern, most existing buildings in Malaysia was designed according to British Standard which did not included seismic loading. However, this research focussed onto investigating the five storey regular and soft storey reinforced concrete building. This is because the soft storey have irregularity of elevation and stiffness of column in first floor level seem to cause the structure more vulnerable to damage due to earthquake loading. Hence, this research is carried out to analyse the damage measures of structure using drift performance and hinges properties to nonlinear static and dynamic analysis with various performance levels. The structure is seismically moment resisting frame designed according to Eurocode as the existing building design using the rule of thumb for seismic consideration. After distribution of lateral forces along building height are applied, plastic hinges formation and capacity curve is extracted. Next, minimum three ground motion and development of elastic response spectra are required for time history analysis. The idea is to find the maximum peak ground acceleration required for designed building reach collapse. Regular building tend to experience lowest drift and less severe damages compared to soft storey building which have reduction of stiffness and irregularities on the first floor level and more vulnerable to earthquake loading.
