Keratan keluli tirus digunakan secara meluas dalam pembinaan kerana mempunyai struktur yang efisien, pada masa yang sama memberikan penampilan dalam nilai estetika. Dalam usaha untuk mengurangkan berat rasuk keluli, profil web dengan bukaan telah diperkenalkan dalam industri pembinaan. Dalam kajian ini, analisis tak linear prestasi lenturan untuk keratan keluli tirus dengan pembukaan telah dikaji menggunakan analisis unsur terhingga. Hasil kajian kemudiannya dibandingkan dengan keratan keluli tirus tanpa bukaan daripada analisis unsur terhingga dari segi anjakan dan momen alah. Daripada analisis unsur terhingga, didapati keratan keluli tirus tanpa pembukaan mempunyai keupayaan lenturan lebih tinggi daripada keratan keluli tirus dengan pelbagai saiz bukaan web. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa mengurangkan bilangan pembukaan akan meningkatkan kapasiti lenturan. Sebaliknya, peningkatan saiz pembukaan akan mengurangkan kapasiti lenturan keratan keluli tirus. Perbezaan antara momen alah antara keratan keluli tirus dengan dan tanpa pembukaan hanya 15.818 %. Sebanyak 60 set analisis tak linear telah dijalankan untuk mengkaji kesan bilangan dan saiz pembukaan, ketebalan bebibir dan ketebalan web pada prestasi lenturan. Walau bagaimanapun, kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa pembukaan dengan bentuk oktagon dan saiz 0.6D, di mana D adalah kedalaman keratan menunjukkan keratan yang terbaik dalam istilah momen alah dan mengurangkan isi padu jika dibandingkan dengan saiz bukaan yang lain. Ia juga didapati keratan keluli tirus mempunyai ketahanan yang lebih baik dalam ketahanan momen yang kuat di keratan bebibir dan web yang lebih tebal. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tapered steel section is widely used in construction due to its structural efficiency, providing at the same time aesthetical appearance. In order to reduce the weight of steel beams, web profile with openings has been introduces in the construction industry. In this research, the nonlinear analysis of bending behaviour for tapered steel section with opening was studied by finite element analysis. The result was then compared with the tapered steel section without opening from the finite element analysis in term of displacement and yield moment. From finite element analysis, it is observed that tapered steel section without opening had higher bending capacity compare to that of tapered steel section with various size of web openings. The result showed that decreasing the number of opening would increase the bending capacity. Otherwise, increasing size of opening would decreasing the bending capacity of tapered steel section. The different of the yield moment between tapered steel section with and without opening was only (15.818 %). A total of 60 set of nonlinear analyses were carried out to investigate the effect number and size of opening, flange thickness and web thickness on bending behaviour. However, this study showed that web opening with octagon shape and 0.6D size, where D is the depth of section, showed the best section in term yield moment and volume reduction when compared to other opening size and shape. It also found tapered steel section has better moment resistance in thicker flange and web.
