Assessment of energy generated by photovoltaic Systems At School Of Electrical And Electronic Engineering (SEEE) USM / Muhammad Shakir Suhaimi
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The School of Electrical and Electronic of Engineering (SEEE) Universiti Sains Malaysia is located at Nibong Tebal which has the latitude of 5.1449ᴼ north and of 100.4924ᴼ east and the elevation of 5 meters height above sea level. At SEEE, photovoltaic (PV) panel are placed at several locations that are mainly at the car park and nearby the barrier gate operator. The power generated by the PV panel are mainly used for research purposed and operating the barrier gate to the parking lot at SEEE. In this study, the PV panel located at SEEE and its possible usage and will be assessed. The study starts with calculating the current efficiency of each of the model of PV panel. This is because the output of the PV panel depends on the efficiency of the PV panel. To calculate the possible usage of the PV module, the data of solar irradiance and the dry bulb temperature that was obtained from Malaysia Meteorological Department (MMD) will be analysed to obtain the average annual of daily solar irradiation and dry bulb temperature. From the data, it was found that in the year 2015, the average annual of daily solar irradiation is 5.128 kWh m-2 day-1 and the average annual of daily dry-bulb temperature is 30.7 ᴼC/day. This information is used to calculate the output of the PV panel using the specification given by the manufacturer. Using the output of the PV panel, a PV system is proposed for the maximum utilization of the available PV panel. It is found that the module 100W have the highest efficiency which is 12%.
