Kini, rangkaian pengesan alat mudah alih(MSN) telah menjadi salah satu daripada bidang penyelidikan yang penting. MSN mengandungi sekumpulan alatan mudah alih misalnya telefon bimbit, robot dan kenderaan dimana mereka bergerak secara rawak di kawasan tertentu dan membentuk rangkaian ad-hoc. IEEE 802.15.4 MAC dicipta bagi kegunaan rangkaian peribadi tanpa wayar yang berkadar rendah (LR-WPAN). Rangkaian peribadi tanpa wayar yang berkadar rendah melibatkan struktur yang terlalu kecil ataupun ketiadaan struktur. Tujuan penggunaan protokol IEEE 802.15.4 MAC adalah untuk mengurangkan penggunaan kuasa dan kos yang rendah. Selalunya, penggunaan rangkaian ini diaplikasikan oleh pengesan rangkaian yang tidak bergerak. Operasi signal yang diaktifkan akan bergantung kepada pembahagian jalur masa CSMA-CA. Lapisan IEEE 802.15.4 MAC membekalkan operasi kitaran lengkap dengan menetapkan nilai dua parameter iaitu Beacon Order (BO) dan SuperFrame Order (SO). Penggunaan kuasa dapat dikurangkan melalui penetapan nilai yang stabil bagi operasi kitaran lengkap. Tujuan utama projek ini dijalankan adalah untuk mengenalpasti kesan-kesan terhadap rangkaian IEEE 802.15.4 MAC jika beberapa factor pergerakan digabungkan pada masa yang sama didalam rangkaian alatan mudah alih. Dengan melakukan simulasi dan analisis terhadap pencapaian rangkaian, kesesuian penggunaan IEEE 802.15.4 di dalam rangkaian pengesan alatan mudah alih dapat dikesan. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Mobile Sensor Networks (MSN) has recently been known as an important research area. It consists of a collection of mobile nodes such as mobile robots or mobile vehicles which are distributed over some areas that form an ad-hoc network. IEEE 802.15.4 MAC is designed for the Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network (LRWPAN). The Wireless Personal Area Network (WPANs) involves wireless networking and no infrastructure. It is characterized as low data rate, low power consumption and low cost networking (Zen et al., 2008). LRWPAN is designed basically for static sensor networks(De Nardis et al., 2007). The operation mode of beacon-enabled mode focused on superframes slotted CSMA-CA. IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer provides a duty-cycle operation by setting two system parameters, Beacon Order (BO) and SuperFrame Order (SO). By adjusting the duty cycle, the power consumption can be reduced. The aim of this project is to identify the combined effect of multiple mobility factors in the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC for mobile sensor networks. Two mobility factors which is node’s speed and beacon order are combined together in one experiment. By carrying simulation, the suitability of IEEE 802.15.4 in mobile sensor network environment can be evaluated on the mobility factors while observing the effect on Throughput, Delay and Packet Lost. When both of the node’s speed and beacon order increased, the Throughput decreased while the Delay and Packet Lost increased. This has contributed to a poorer network performance. As a conclusion, it is more preferable to combine lower node’s speed and smaller beacon order to achieve better network performance.
