Dewasa kini, industri binaan bangunan semakin hari semakin pesat membangun. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Nowadays, industries of building construction become rapidly higher from day to days. This situation mostly contributes big impact to the environment. This is because, the construction building disposal was increased and have discarded everywhere which from the person who not responsible. Mostly, this construction disposal consist crushed red bricks and concrete. As the precaution or to reduce the disposal, recycle is one of the ways to overcome. Looking from side of water engineering, this is a good step if the construction disposal such as red bricks and concrete is use as coagulant material which is the one of the purification alternatives applicable for wastewater. In addition, the conventional coagulants that are commercialized at the market mostly base on chemical material and able to give bad effect to the environmental quality and most of that was expensive. In this study, crushed red bricks and concrete was able to remove COD, suspended solids and turbidity. The optimum conditions like pH and coagulant dosage were identified as well as Sludge Volume Index (SVI). From the result, crushed red bricks gave optimum result better than concrete which showed removal 91.98% COD. From the efficiency removal based on all optimum, indicates that crushed red bricks able to remove 79.45% suspended solids and 75.45% turbidity. Besides that, SVI value for crushed red bricks is slightly less compare to alum. Totally, both this two material either crushed red bricks or concrete able to react by itself no need the combination from it and this material also suitable as coagulant to use to improve the quality of the water.
