This project design is generally known as a electronic ballast where it function like the ballast in the fluorescent lamp. This design consists of three main circuit including electromagnetic interference filter, rectifier and full-wave dc-ac converter circuits. This project employs current fed resonant inverter to discharge lamp supply. Other than that, there are two additional circuits were designed which are switching circuit and driver circuit. Both of these additional circuits are exclusively for full-wave dc-ac inverter circuit. IGBT, in the inverter circuit, need a switching on gate to make it working. So to make it working, switching must be given. The inverter circuit produces a rectangular waveform. The driver circuit is added to make the waveform become more smooth. In reality, the output inverter circuit is connecting at fluorescent lamp and from this, the function of the designed circuit can be view after combining all circuits. The filter circuit functions to reduce electromagnetic wave such as noise at the input sources. By using the filter circuit at the input source, the input sinusoidal waveform will be more smooth before it be using as an input source by rectifier. Rectifier circuit changes ac input to dc and then supply the current to inverter circuit. Frequency adjustment to higher magnitude up to 20 kHz can be done in inverter circuit by adjusting the variable resistance value at switching circuit. This project is designed exclusively for high frequencies. Totally, this project is good although it not fulfill the objective because the designed circuits can reduce cost and can operate like ballast. Beside that, this project still in improvement phase.
