High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) is a transmission system which is widely
used all over the world whether through overhead cable or undersea cable. Converter
station located between two-end lines have important impact in HVDC transmission
system. It is important to evaluate converter station configuration before designing a
converter station, so that the distortion and harmonic can be reduced. In this thesis, two
converter station polarity commonly used that is monopole and bipolar is discussed. Next,
the Graetz circuit arrangement that is 3-phase 2-way configuration is examined. The
Graetz circuit is used in HVDC transmission system between Malaysia-Thailand, both in
two converter stations at Gurun (Malaysia) and Khlong Ngae (Thailand). Several
important parameters related to Graetz circuit has been proven in reducing harmonic.
Finally, the technical specifications for HVDC transmission operation system between
Malaysia-Thailand is examined._
Voltan Tinggi Arus Terus adalah sistem penghantaran yang semakin banyak
digunakan di serata dunia samaada melalui kabel talian atas atau kabel di dalam dasar laut.
Stesen pengubah yang terletak di antara dua hujung talian mempunyai impak penting
dalam sistem penghantaran Voltan Tinggi Arus Terus. Konfigurasi stesen pengubah
penting untuk dinilai sebelum merekabentuk sebuah stesen pengubah agar herotan dan
harmonik dapat dikurangkan. Dalam laporan ini, dua polariti stesen pengubah yang selalu
digunakan iaitu monopolar dan bipolar dibincangkan. Seterusnya, susunan litar Graetz
iaitu konfigurasi 3-fasa 2-hala dikaji. Susunan litar Graetz digunakan dalam sistem
penghantaran Voltan Tinggi Arus Terus Malaysia-Thailand di dua stesen pengubah iaitu
Gurun (Malaysia) dan Khlong Ngae (Thailand). Beberapa parameter penting yang
berkaitan dengan litar Graetz turut dibincangkan. Daripada analisa yang dijalankan, litar
Graetz terbukti berkesan mengurangkan harmonik. Akhir sekali, spesifikasi teknikal bagi
operasi sistem penghantaran Voltan Tinggi Arus Terus Malaysia-Thailand diteliti.
