Improvement of a ball throwing machine

Improvement of a ball throwing machine / Muhammad Nursyafiq Ismail
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ This report is about the Improvement of Roller Design and Fabrication for a Ball Throwing Machine. Nowadays, Internet of Things (IoT) are one of the most common buzzwords in technology circles right now. This is because the technologies are in use today. So, that is why this ball throwing machine should be improved with IoT technologies. Ball throwing machine can be used in many sport games such as softball, baseball, cricket and many more. For example, in cricket games, the one who throw the balls is called as bowler. In this application, the ball throwing machine is used in batting training. In Malaysia, there are no registered cricket bowling machine manufacturers available. So, this machine should be developed and improves in technologies that are being advanced. There are three main objectives of this project. First is to improve the ball throwing machine, so that it can be controlled through the internet. This machine consists of two wheels that controlled by Arduino Mega. Cytron WiFi module is used to transmit and receive data through the internets. Second is to improve the safety part of the machine by adding ultrasonic ranger to detect any interference in front of the operating machine. Third is to build a new controller for the ball throwing machine as the previous controller was broken. To get the result, the prototype had undergone some tests such as the initial velocity of the ball, type of ball spin, distance travel by the ball, current drawn from the motor when the ball shot out and many others. The observation and data were tabulated and the related graphs were sketched to obtain related equations. As the result, the safety part has successfully improved. The machine will slowly stop if the ultrasonic sensor detect interference in front of the operating machine. The ball velocity is then compared to the tangential velocity by percentage. For slow, medium and fast speed, the percentage are 72.88%, 64.09% and 48.15% respectively.
