Pusat ambilan air adalah amat penting bagi membekalkan air bagi tujuan perindustrian, pertanian dan ke kawasan-kawasan penggunaan yang lain di seluruh dunia. Malangnya, masalah pemendapan sering berlaku di Pusat ambilan air ini. Ia boleh merosakkan pam penolak serta mengurangkan kelajuan air di Pusat Ambilan Air.semua masalah ini adalah memerlukan kos membaik pulih yang tinggi. Oleh itu, adalah sangat penting bagi mencari penyelesaian masalah yang mungkin boleh mengurangkan kos baik pulih. Bagi mencari penyelesaian kepada masalah ini, beberapa susunan struktur di Pusat Ambilan Air telah dibuat. Ianya adalah bagi menyiasat masalah pemendapan dengan menggunakan struktur penyekat air dan pintu sluis serta memeriksa keberkesanan menggunakan kepingan besi nipis sebagai struktur penyingkir mendapan. Sistem pintu sluis adalah sistem yang biasa digunakan di Malaysia di Pusat Ambilan Air. Jadi, kajian ini akan dijalankan dengan menggunakan Model Fizikal Pusat Ambilan Air di Ijok yang telah sedia ada di Makmal Permodelan Fizikal REDAC (River Engineering Drainage and Urban Centre). Perbezaan di antara kelajuan aliran, di model dan tapak sebenar, corak pemendapan dan beratnya akan diambil kira semasa menjalankan ujikaji. Berdasarkan kajian ini, penyusunan struktur Pusat Ambilan Air yang lebih baik dengan menggunakan kos yang lebih murah boleh dikenalpasti. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Intake is very important to supply water to the industrial, agricultural and other user area in the world. Unfortunately, sedimentation problem always occurred at the intake. Sedimentation problem is very common at the intake structure. It can damage the pump impeller and reduce the velocity of water flow towards intake. All these problems needs very high of maintenance cost. So, it is very important to find the solution of this problem possibly with low maintenance cost. To find the solution of the problem, some simple arrangement has been done to investigate the sedimentation using weir and sluice gated structures. This research is also to examine thin steel plates as sediment exclusion towards intake. Sluice gated structure are common system used in Malaysia at the water intake. So, the available physical model of Ijok Intake which is already available in REDAC Physical Model Laboratory will be used to implementing this research. The comparison between discharge in model and prototype, sediment pattern and weight will be taken into account during experiments. Based on this result, the better arrangement will be identified as the arrangement to reduce sedimentation at intake possibly with low maintenance cost.
