BS EN 60695-2-1/2:1996 is a European standard titled "Fire hazard testing - Part 2-1/2: Test flames - 50 W flame - Apparatus and confirmatory test method". This standard specifies the apparatus and procedures for generating a 50 W test flame, which is used for the assessment of the fire hazard properties of materials and products in accordance with other standards. It also includes a confirmatory test method for verifying the performance of the test apparatus. The test flame produced by the apparatus is used for a range of small-scale fire tests, including the determination of the time to ignition and the rate of heat release of materials and products. The standard is divided into two parts: Part 2-1/2 covers the design and construction of the test apparatus, while Part 2-1/3 covers the calibration procedures for the apparatus. The purpose of this standard is to provide a consistent and reliable approach to the generation of a 50 W test flame, which is used for the assessment of the fire hazard properties of materials and products. The standard is intended to be used by manufacturers, testing laboratories, and other organizations involved in the evaluation of fire hazard properties. Overall, the purpose of this standard is to ensure that the 50 W test flame is generated in a consistent and reliable manner, and to provide a basis for the comparison of test results between different laboratories and testing methods. The confirmatory test method included in the standard is used to verify that the test apparatus is functioning properly and that the test results are accurate.
